Subject: Athletes of
the Week (Jan 29th)
Carleton Ravens Athletes of the
Week
Sarah Kennedy, women's basketball, Osvaldo Jeanty, men's basketball, and
Mike Penney, men's swimming, are the Carleton University/Ottawa Senators
Athletes of the Week, for the week ending January 29.
Kennedy scored 32
points in Carleton's 68-64 victory over the University of Toronto
Blues Saturday night to help the Ravens earn a four-way tie with
Toronto,
Laurentian and Queen's for second place in the Ontario University Athletics
East. The fourth-year Commence major was also named the Rogers TV women's
basketball player of the game.
Jeanty, a fourth-year veteran guard for
the men's basketball team, led the Ravens to victories over Ryerson, 78-53, and
Toronto, 74-52,
by scoring a team high 29-points and recording 12 rebounds in the weekend
victories. Meanwhile, Penney, a third-year swimmer, narrowly missed qualifying
for the 2006 Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) men's national swim
championships by swimming the 200 Individual Medley (IM) with a time of 2:13.97,
just 3.85 seconds off the CIS qualifying time. This was also the best 200 IM
time by a Raven swimmer this
season.
