MEN FINISH DUAL SEASON WITH 7-1 RECORD. WOMEN BREAK

EVEN WITH 4-4 RECORD.

The Carleton University swim team hosted the Ottawa University GeeGees and the Brock University Badgers, Nov. 6, winning three of the four dual competitions.

The men were undefeated, beating rival Ottawa University 143-114, and slaughtering Brock University 177-77. The women also swam well, defeating Brock 148.5-115.5 and trailing Ottawa, 133-131.

Fourth year geology student Keegan Harris continues to be a dominating threat for the Ravens, winning both the 100 and 200-metre breaststroke races. Harris was only one second over the CIS qualifying time in the 100-metre breaststroke.

Rookie Heather Macdonald, Carleton’s only CIS qualifier, also won the women’s 50, 100, and 200-metre breaststroke races, pushing her way closer to CIS standards in both the 200 and 100-metre breaststroke events.

Rookie Mike Penney and veterans Krista Boegel and Paola Osorio are also close to the CIS cut.

14 men and 12 women have qualified for the OUA swimming championships to be held Feb. 11-13 at Brock University.
